We disscused historical events on the 5th May. Slovakia, Ukraine, Israel and Poland talked about difficult past. It is important to remember that dispite the differences in our cultures we all suffered from dishonesty, greed or war. Ukraine was forced to be leaded by Russia but they are separate countries. They also got independence witout violent. The Orange Revolution was a path to gain freedom. Slovakia showed us the differences between them and the Czech Republic. They were as a one country for some time but Slovakia and the Czech Republic managed to grow on their own. Israel is now in a difficult situation because of conflict with Palestine. They also talked about their duty. In Israel it is required to go to army on the certain age. Poland discussed Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi concentration camp. They made a point of the importance of remembering about the victims. It was a horrific time in history. To summarize, the meeting was a great opportunity to talk about history. Discusing our past we gave each other hope and sense of understoodment.
