EXPLORING THE ROLE OF CO-CREATOR OF THE PERFORMANCE

Authors' theatre workshop

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Working in theatre is increasingly becoming a collective work. Actors are no longer "just" creators of their roles, but are also co-creators of the performance as a whole; directors in performances perform, etc. In this workshop we will explore what it means to create a performance as a whole. Why are we staging a performance? What would we like to express - how will we change the world with it? How do we explore the topic on which the performance will be based? What's the thing about the conflict? What is the role of each creator in the process? How do we get everything on stage? What is the creative perspective of the performance through the costumes, set design, sound and music? How do we work with all these people? How to work in a group? How to deal with conflicts in a group? How to deal with yourself? And again: what difference does it make whether the performance is set up in a school gym or in an independent theatre? Or in a community theatre? Or on the street? How can we cope with everything?! We will almost certainly not answer all of these questions in the workshop, but we will try to highlight them as much as possible through the creation of authors' theatre – small performances. Through the creation of short scenes, the participants will try out different roles (actor, director, costume designer, member of the collective, etc.) and thus get to know different fields and aspects of theatre creation.
