ABOUT

FUTURE TELLING 2: The New Generation« is an international youth exchange program.

Partner countries in the project are Slovenia, Croatia, Israel, Belgium, Germany and Finland. Eight young people (aged 18 to 30) from each of the partnering countries - thus 48 participants in total - will participate in the exchange in Koper, Slovenia (14 – 21 August 2019).

This youth exchange program's main objective is to implement new knowledge, skills and methods in work with youth in theater. Under the supervision of a professional mentor, participants from the different countries will work together in six groups, get to know and experiment with a range of different approaches to youth theater. Thematically, the workshops range from firmly physical (i.e. »Exploring the Collective Body through the Individual Body«) to more theoretical emphases (i.e. »Drama, Time and Place«). On the final day of the program, all groups will present what they have worked on in a brief presentation.

The workshops' unifying theme is »migrations.« Before arriving in Koper, the participants will collect material, i.e. interviews with migrants, articles from newspapers, police reports on unauthorized border crossings etc. By means of the respective range of theatrical methods, they will shape these elements into theatrical scenarios in their week long workshops.

The project seeks to introduce new, unfamiliar methods to its participants, methods that they will be able to share with others and use in their (professional) work in the future. They will deepen their understanding of theater, as well as their skills in re-interpreting and adapting a given subject. Participants will learn to think critically, and develop their ability to listen, to allow others to express themselves without inhibition. Theater has the capacity to raise young people's awareness of and to reinforce their interest in what is happening in the societies they live in. In this spirit, »FUTURE TELLING 2« enables them to explore relationships both between people and between humans and their environment, within and particularly beyond the confines of the nation-state they are familiar with.
