The Landesverband Amateurtheater Baden-Württemberg is the regional association for non professional theater in South Germany. With 643 member groups and more than 40.000 active citizens the LABW is the largest NGO for theatre in Germany. The main fields are: Cultural education for Schools, Youth, Seniores, Migrants and Inclusion; infrastructural development of culture and arts on country side; services for NPOs and NGOs; financial support for non professional theatre; a workshop system in the field of drama; cultural management and civil society; up to 15 regional,national and international festivals/year; hosting the official state contest of Baden-Württemberg for Amateur Theater LAMATHEA (which is the only state contest for that field in Germany) and finally national and nternational exchanges. The LABW is supported by the Ministry of Science,Development and Art (Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst) as well as the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (Ministerium für Kultus, Jugend und Sport) and administer the public subsidies for amateur theatre of the country Baden-Württemberg.
