ABOUT

FUTURE TELLING is international youth exchange program. Partner countries in project are
Slovenia, Croatia, Israel, Belgium, Germany and Finland. The main reason for designing the youth
exchange project was the need for the implementation of new knowledge, skills and methods in work
with youth in theater.
Participants from each of the partnering countries (8 from each country, 48 in total) will be involved in the exchange that will take place in Izola, Slovenia (26 August – 1 September 2018). A range of
different approaches to work with youth in theater and new work methods in youth theater (from
physical theater, devised theater, performance art, …) will be presented during the exchange. Each of
the partners will provide a folk tale, which will be reinterpreted and actualized by participants in
accordance with new gained knowledge and skills. Participants will work in mixed groups and will
present their work and work in progress to other groups under the supervision of professional mentor. The presentations will serve as an insight to different methods and work flow that will be used while working on folk tales form six different countries.
The main goal of the project is to present new methods to participants. They will gain new theater
knowledge and skills on how to re-interpret and actualize the content (in this case a folk tale). Young
participants will share their newly gained knowledge in their local environments to the other members of their theater groups. The skills will help individuals and groups to raise the quality
level in youth theater production.
Partnering organizations will form a network and will invite new organizations to join in. The network
will serve for exchange of groups and best practices in youth theatre.
